National Nutrition Week (1 to 7 Sept) We love the fact that we are able to play a role, however small in making a difference to the wonderful children of India 14 per cent of the population in India is malnourished. Inadequate food supply, undernutrition and hunger, can lead to ailments and diseases. We started coaching classes to help them complete their homework on a daily basis besides helping them with tables, poems, answers etc.. Children started getting better grades. They were happy, we were happier. Soon we faced one more roadblock, which was sickness. We conducted a medical camp for them. The doctor suggested that these children were malnourished, they would require supplements to cope with the deficiency. We started giving them nourishing food items. BANANA A Banana a Day Keeps Hunger Away It is the most inexpensive fresh fruit Rich in nutrients It supports digestive health

"Request for help for Baby Ananya" Our volunteer was requested to observe and report any abnormality observed in our students. She pointed to Ananya and said that she required medical help. Ananya was sent for consultation Dr suggested that her heart and brain require screening. She was screened for the heart which revealed a hole in her heart. Now she needs MRI to be done on the brain. We sent them to Balasaheb Thakre hospital in Jogeshwari East but she was sent back saying to take her somewhere else, as she did not sleep after taking sleeping pill. I spoke to Nanavati staff, they are charging Rs 10,000 + Rs 2000 for anaesthesia. Father is a driver, who will be going to KEM next month for an operation for clots in the brain so can't afford to bear the daughter's treatment cost. Her mother also has a hole in her heart. Can someone get us a discount or pay for their treatment?

Help Ranjana Overcome Life Soon after her husband’s death, Mrs Maya Kamble had to find work to support her 3 children. My friend Mrs Kiran Agarwal engaged her as a part-time maid. On an enquiry about her family, Maya told her that her 25-year-old daughter, Ranjanas's legs were affected by polio so she could only crawl at home. Her mother had to carry her everywhere which was very demoralising for her. Mrs Kiran decided to get help for her treatment. She approached a Doctor who examined her & suggested hospitalising her for 15 days so that she could be treated. Kiran & I admitted her to Nanavati Hospital on 3 May 2004 & on 8 May 2004 she walked out on her own, with the help of callipers & crutches. Kiran & I were in tears & hugged her. We also got her a sewing machine. She learnt how to use it and now earns, Instead of being a burden on her family, Her struggle continues as after a few years the gadgets need replacement due to wear & tear. She fa

Dahi Handi and Management Mantra You have the pyramidal structure of dahi handi. The base is broad and lots of people who are the strength of the team. As you go up people in the team become lesser but have a strategically stronger foundation. At the top, there is only one person i.e. the leader. He breaks the Dahi-handi with the support of all the people in the pyramid. He distributes the makhan to all i.e. profit distribution. However, the catch is that - even if one person in the pyramid structure does not hold his position firmly the whole team is bound to collapse. So hold your position firmly, and do your job properly, because your job is equally important as that of the leader. Happy Janmashtami Be a good team member, God will bless you for becoming a good team leader. ✌️

About 10 years back Gita s husband, a slum dweller, was critically ill due to dengue. In order to save his life, neighbors admitted him in private hospital. They demanded Rs 4 lac to save his life. It took her few days to arrange the money. The day she deposited entire money, she was given husband s cold body. She lost the only bread earner and got into debt. Her in laws and brother were ready to give shelter to the family but didn't want to take responsibility of 2 children who were going to English medium school. She was a home maker who did not step out to buy the grocery too. She decided to stay back and educate her children. We got her a sewing machine, which has not generated any income during past 2 years. Her children also need a sponsor to pay the fees, as she has been struggling to repay loan, run home. Lockdown has added to her problems. Her daughter Sandhya, (our student) passed X standard with 62%. She needs Rs 16,880 for admission in Lords Universal College, Goregaon

A Moment of Pride for Birthday Girl, Shruti Gems are found in the most unexpected places. This is what we found in Shruti A coach from Kolhapur, with whom I got acquainted through Deepak Saroj, our marathon runner, introduced me to Miss Shruti Pandey, daughter of an ex-subedar. We started registering her for marathon races in Maharashtra. We started giving her accessories like sports shoes, clothes, travel fare, hotel accommodation etc.. She would run and get medals most of the time. One fine day she announced that she wanted to play cricket. We again invested in accessories like a bat, ball etc... During her first match, she was declared the Best Bowler. Last Aug she announced that she was selected to play in the 6th Senior National Tennis Cricket Championship at Mathura. She also added that 5 girls were selected from Nashik and 4 were poor so not able to pay for the registration. Without knowing the girls, we trusted her and paid for all 4 girls and they reached Mathura. Ev

Deworming Day We have been coaching slum children for the past 13 years, looking after their health. During their medical check-up, we were informed that they require deworming medicines every half yearly. As this is a challenge for most poor people, we included this also in our work. Auro Mira Care Foundation has been donating Deworming Medicines regularly to us. We have 100 children now & they have sent us the dose for all of them. Deworming has improved their immunity It has protected them from chronic illnesses caused by worms. It has improved their concentration and attendance, making them more productive in school. It has increased nutrient uptake and controls infections such as anaemia, loose bowels, etc Thank You Auro Mira Care Foundation for looking after our Slum Children. As we firmly believe, the world can indeed be transformed if we come together.

1,900 Children Quit School In Metro Region Amid Pandemic Ours Doubled during the past 2 years. Reasons: We started with online classes. It was a total failure due to ignorance of parents & children, network, recharge issues etc. Our teacher dared to continue classes at her home, with social distancing, as we were not getting permission to hold classes, risking the whole family's health. As soon as the lockdown was announced we started giving monthly ration to their families. We still continue to give them ration. We continued giving them healthy food like bananas, dates, and Ladoos at their doorsteps. We continued our Birthday parties. Food packets, cake slices, and gifts used to be delivered to their doorsteps. Half-yearly Deworming Doses continued on due dates. We encouraged them to get vaccinated as they were very apprehensive about the reaction. We lured them by offering an additional kit of rations for getting vaccinated. Our teacher used to register the illitera
